This trail is cardio crazy to climb. It starts out a bit rough, but not too bad, even rolls a bit over some sharp but stable rocks and is fun. Once it starts really climbing up into Pine Hollow it is a straight line and all ride-able but steep. There are 2 root drops, one is small and you can hop up it even. The other is a bit bigger and the landing can be a bit narrow and washed out, but it is fun to hit on the way down. You cross a little stream when you are almost to the top. It is a really fun descent, and a great way to drop off the mountain and back to the trail head. If you parked lower down, you can continue on the lower section.
Winter - this is a popular descent after climbing up the road. The lower section is sun exposed and can get muddy and icy early and late in the season, but once into the hollow snow stays around for along time. Because it is the first single track from the trailhead it gets good foot traffic and will get packed down pretty well. The packed snow typically ends at the Salamander flat intersection
