This doubletrack trail crosses over the ridge between Whitetail Basin and the Little Boulder River Valley. At it's crest you will will find the remnants of the Big Major Mine, of which a couple of cabins are still in relatively good condition. The trail is burly, and the steep gradients, rocks and stream crossings can be formidable obstacles no matter what your mode of transport.
If you are on a mountain bike, it will be easier going if travelling North from Whitetail as there will be less bike pushing heading up the hill in this direction. The other side heading down Major Gulch is overall much steeper.
Access from the South via State Mine Rd and from the North via Little Boulder Rd. Both Roads are suitable for high clearance vehicles.
Service Road Atlas is a free to use, community-driven service for viewing and creating reports on the numerous back-country service roads around B.C. and Alberta.
