The Bowen Traverse is a great single-track route to access the Pipestone area, allowing you to park at the end of the pavement, and extend your single-track time.

Stunning in the springtime when the balsam root flowers and lupine are in bloom

Heading from west to east, you'll be traversing the lower part of Bowen Mountain (which will be on your left side). This trail climbs but not too difficult, just steady. Of course, on your return it's a flowy fast descent.

From the eastern-most end of this trail section you can continue on single track, cross Bowen Creek (narrow wood ladder bridge) and choose one of 3 single track routes across a huge meadow that leads toward Pipestone Canyon.

Access Info

Park at the junction of Bear Creek Road and Lester Road. Ride your bike up Lester Road about 0.3 miles and get on the trail at the apex of the road's first switchback turn. Ride about 100 yards and pass through as steel gate and continue.
