Starting next to the river bed, the trail is moderately bumpy to try to disrupt your cadence and power pedaling. Up N Out starts with a steep climb that tries to eat your energy in the fist 25% of the trail. It then briefly opens to an access road and then dives back into the single trail on the left in the trees. The upper part of the trail is a pleasant climb as it wonders around on the single tracks in the trees and small meadows.
