From Nucla the Bucktail Draw route climbs the paved Delta - Nucla Road for 6 miles. Where the pavement ends, take the first dirt two track on the right. The track climbs gradually to the north and east as it rounds a sharp promontory. The track continues eastward up the draw until coming to Big Bucktail Creek. Continue to climb up the drainage until you connect with a two track coming in from the left (FS 5659). Continue to the right (east) and follow this track as it begins to drop to the south and west eventually crossing the CC Ditch. From this point you will stay on the ditch access road, sometimes getting away from the ditch itself to cross some of the many drainages. As you get closer to Nucla, the route will begin heading up a major draw on the right where it will leave the ditch two track on a single track trail coming to another old two track. Go left and climb a short but steep hill where the track straightens out. Look for a two track on the left that will take you down to the county road heading into Nucla.
