Carol's rides well in both directions. The climb to the saddle from the south is demanding but 100% ridable. Descending south from the saddle this very old horse packing trail has good flow and swoop to it until you reach the Carol to Burn connector. Beyond that the trails is loose and chunky but still a fun descent. Generally, heading north, the preferred route would be Burn trail until the Carol to Burn connector, and then finish the climb south on Carol.
