This is a fun 9 mile ride in the Chewuch River drainage. First 2 miles out and back are flat and good for kids. Trail starts and ends at the Falls Creek waterfall. Ride is primarily all in the forest. Nice option to cool off in the Chewuch River at the end of the ride
At Falls Creek waterfall hike up the 3-4 steps, go about 30-40 feet and look for the trail on the right. The trail goes 2 miles-parallels the West Chewuch to a forest service road. Turn left up the forest service road and go until the road ends, there is a trail at the end of that road. Trail climbs up. At the top of the hill climb you hit a skid road, go right. Cross over another forest service road and look for the trail just slightly uphill about 20 feet. Then it is a fun downhill through the forest. At the very bottom of the decent the trail fades away. Just cross FS 100 and look for the trail across the road. Basically just take your time to look around for the rock cairns and you'll find the route when it's not there but most of the trail is fairly easy to follow.

NF-100 is locked due to wash out and debris flows after Cub Creek fire.
I skipped the flat section and caught the up trail near NF-100, which is an old road grade until the switch backs. 5-6 washouts. Very hard to follow and mostly pushed my bike up due to steepness and loose pine needle surface. After switchbacks it follows another road grade to NF-100 and the rest of the downhill part.
Still hard to impossible to follow due to debris, mostly thick pine needles. Open forest, really cool but was never on trail but maybe 5 turns. I just bailed to NF-100 at a convenient place about 2600ft.
Both trail sections showed potential but need raking work, turns where really sharp and sudden.
Probably would have had more fun if I just committed to freeriding vs trying stay on trail. I feel like the up trail was originally downhill as well.
I would have rather used NF-100 as the up.
Could be fun but needs to be brought back from the dead.

This trail is not well used which is great if you want to avoid the Sun Mountain crowds. It reminds me of old school single-track from the early 1990’s.
I thought the ride was just okay. It’s between a rock cliff and a FS Road that was quite busy - lots of big trucks up and down the road which you are quite close to much of the time. The trees are sparse and offer SOME shade but the logging road climb was overly hot and we started at 9:00 am.
I think the trail has a lot of potential, with a little grooming and possibly cutting in a trail adjacent to the logging road it could be more fun. It is remote and you don’t feel like you are in a bike park, but it is primitive.
