Ridge running and classic old-school singletrack winding through the woods. With a TS30 start just past the Singing Rocks pullout, it climbs gradually along an unnamed ridge overlooking the Coon Hollow Wildlife Area, with excellent views of Lassen Peak and Mount Shasta. You won’t miss the iconic “cool tree” along the way.

The descent starts above Carr Mine, then a handful of tight switchbacks through a small burn area, crosses Smokin’ Duck road (look at it on the map - you ride up the smoke plume to get to the trail), settles into a fun, “almost” flowing long middle section, and finishes with a steeper, more technical lower section. This is a natural, flicked-stick trail that follows the animal paths and terrain rather than reshaping it, offering the kind of authentic singletrack experience that’s becoming increasingly rare.
