Beautiful but steep. Coon Trap has pine groves, oak groves and a couple redwood groves as you climb to the Ridge Trail. Forested (shaded) the whole way up. Relentless in its grade, the payoff is the awesome Ridge downhill.

       Lots of hike a bike sections where it is extremely steep with totally rutted out trail. Cant imagine this being very fun on the way up or down.

       Simply the shortest way to the ridge from Glen Ellen. I encourage uphill to keep the Ridge Trail primarily downhill for the bikers. But, as mentioned above, Coon Trap is just too steep in too many places to “enjoy” riding up. At least is almost all shade...
