Dec 29, 2025 @ 11:44am (America/Phoenix) Dec 29, 2025 | mtb Ideal conditions surface wise. Some drainage issues in some stretches have washed/rutted out. Some overhanging cat claw in a few spots. Lovely trail that needs some drainage updates, and more rider use! | Ideal | view
Nov 10, 2024 @ 9:40am Nov 10, 2024 | ebike Cat claw isn't as bad as previous years, but you're still gonna get scratched. Nice and scenic trail | Ideal | view
Feb 19, 2024 @ 5:54am Feb 19, 2024 | mtb Completely dry. Some cat claw brush starting to grow back but not a factor yet. | Ideal | view
Jan 14, 2024 @ 4:58am Jan 14, 2024 | mtb The loop is perfectly ridable. There are a few spots with snow on the trail, but the snow is mixed with dirt from tires, so it was not slippery in the afternoon. It might be icy in those spots in the morning before the temperatures rise. | Ideal | view
Dec 16, 2023 @ 2:15am Dec 16, 2023 | ebike | Ideal | view
Jul 24, 2023 @ 8:50am Jul 24, 2023 | ebike Awesome trail conditions, even around 95 degrees! | Dry | view
Mar 28, 2023 @ 3:30pm Mar 28, 2023 | mtb Hero dirt! No mud at all. | Ideal | view
Mar 17, 2023 @ 11:24am Mar 17, 2023 | mtb Just a little mud at the start of the ride. The rest of the trail was nice and tacky. Did it counter clockwise like the recommendations. Some technical rocky sections with exposure on the last of the downhill. The trail in general is rocky high desert riding so you may want to take a little air out of your tires. Fun trail. Good workout with nice views and cool terrain. | Ideal | view
Mar 6, 2023 @ 11:23am Mar 6, 2023 | mtb Nice and dry. No snow, slush or mud! Rode it counter clockwise. Next time I might try clockwise because the climb seemed like it would be a fun downhill. Going counter clockwise the downhill is steep and technical with a few sphincter puckering spots so it's tough to let the bike run. Cool trail and nice views. Good workout too For a rider from Prescott it was great to find a dry trail!! | Ideal | view
Feb 20, 2023 @ 6:43am Feb 20, 2023 | mtb 2/20/23 Perfect riding conditions. That will change with storm coming on Wednesday. | Ideal | view
Feb 3, 2023 @ 4:04am Feb 3, 2023 | mtb Trails were dry and in good condition. Only a couple damp spots but no mud. | Ideal | view
Jan 13, 2023 @ 4:32am Jan 13, 2023 | mtb Dirt is great shape, fast with good traction. | Ideal | view
Aug 11, 2022 @ 9:55pm Aug 11, 2022 | mtb Minor Water drainage issue, standing water on trail surface. It's monsoon season, there are side effects with torrential downpours. :-) Amazingly enough, this trail is in remarkably good shape. Was able to ride through everything. Lot's of fun. | Variable | view
Mar 16, 2022 @ 12:17pm Mar 16, 2022 | mtb rode counter clockwise. Was dry with no issues | Dry | view
Jan 28, 2022 @ 11:22am Jan 28, 2022 | mtb Dry with no issues. | Ideal | view
Jul 3, 2021 @ 11:24am Jul 3, 2021 | mtb From Big Bug TH out on BCT (Russian Well) up over Old Sycamore Road down to first junction, rode Cooper Mtn Loop CW. We both thought CW was superior to CCW. CW has a couple steep switchbacks through interesting rocks and formations, but once you've paid, its rolling flow play with mild climbs and a stunning rock outcrop formation withing 1/4 of the highest point. Got crossed up at the stout bright green road gate (go through it, don't go past it!). The terrain is desolate with grand vistas and almost zero shade cover. It was over 85 degrees at 10 miles in and we were diving under the few trees that could provide respite from the sun. But not terrible. But in the summer, be on pedals no later than 7am! THIS TRAIL IS SUPER FUN! Some of the longest sustained rolling flow around. Nothing in Sedona compares. Big Park Loop comes close to the flow but is a 1/3rd of the distance this place offers. You get treated to multiple miles of top gear speed. It's so fun! The trail conditions are supreme. Zero sign of horses. Maybe 15 tiny cat claw intrusions. Didn't need protection for them. Very compacted, loose in washes as you'd expect. No sand but for one dry creek crossing. Climbing the couple switchbacks CW has some fun rock junkets (blue trail all the way). This is on BLM land so is open when the forests are closed for fire season. | Ideal | view

Jan 1, 2021 @ 7:03am Jan 1, 2021 | mtb Rode CCW and trail was fantastic. Brush has been cleared, smooth flow and no potholes from Sycamore Rd onto the loop itself. Great trail! | Ideal | view
Dec 19, 2020 @ 1:27pm Dec 19, 2020 | mtb Rode CCW today. Great ride when dry. Didn't have the pot holes from horses that you hear about. No cat's claw either. Nice flow. Terry, you can't miss the trail markers after going through the big green gate. | Ideal | view
Jul 2, 2020 @ 6:22pm Jul 2, 2020 | mtb Rode loop in a CCW direction. I didn't see a trail marker at the start on the north end and it's a little hard to see the trail in that one spot. Rest of the loop is plenty easy to follow and trail signs mark trail at road crossings. There is catsclaw, not terrible, but we did bleed. There were a couple of short short sections cow tracks, not bad. The trail is really smooth and easy to follow. Some interesting rougher spots on the south side not far from BCT intersection. | Dry | view
Feb 15, 2020 @ 1:39pm Feb 15, 2020 | mtb First ride was March 2019-Hated it. Cats claw 3-4 feet high and stretching over the trail for miles. Plus 40-50% was covered with potholes from cattle. Finally road it again both times CCW and it’s a 100% better trail. Cats claw were all under a foot near the trail and the cattle prints were down to about 10-15%. The entire trail was easy to follow and 3-4 times wider than back in March. Absolutely STAY AWAY in any wet conditions. Trail fits well within its intermediate ranking with the ability to ride it as beginner if you slow up the pace or even border on difficult should you try to really push the tight turns and rocky descents with a faster approach. ???????????????? | Ideal | view
Feb 15, 2020 @ 6:08am Feb 15, 2020 | mtb Rode trail on 2/14. Hero dirt, perfect conditions. Enjoy | Ideal | view
Jan 26, 2020 @ 9:23am Jan 26, 2020 | mtb Trail is in great shape. A couple of short stretches postholed by cattle, but that's it. BCT up to Russian Well is also in good shape, so give it a go! | Ideal | view
Jan 12, 2020 @ 3:40pm Jan 12, 2020 | mtb Copper Mt. Loop is in pretty good shape right now. Very little catclaw. The washboard previously mentioned is from cattle foot prints in dried mud. There are several sections of that, but nothing to detract from an otherwise nice loop ride. Again, as mentioned these sections appear to be quite nasty deathmud when the trail is wet. Either direction makes for a great ride. Ridden CW, there's a steep climb with tight switchbacks that intermediate riders may walk. | Dry | view
Jan 11, 2020 @ 11:54am Jan 11, 2020 | mtb Other than a few areas of washboard, this XC trail is a gem. Best ridden in cooler weather, but I'd avoid it if wet. Today, Prescott trails were muddy, but this trail was perfect. | Ideal | view |
