Cresta #258 is a short trail following a ridge line linking Pine Drop #224, Armijo #222 and Valle #256 trails. The trail starts with minimal climb around a sandy stretch and descends gently through a beautiful grove of adolescent pines. Before reaching Armijo #222 it passes the start of Valle #256 allowing for fun easy loops. Cresta is part of a recently completed Cienega-Armijo Trail Improvement Project hand built over a 5 year period by the Sandia Ranger District and Friends of the Sandia Mountains. It is used by hikers and horseback riders so remember to be polite and slow down.
