Cumberland Braaps is one of two black diamond rated trails at Tannery Knobs. The trail has a little bit of everything and takes a few rides to really figure out all the various lines you can take. The trail is characterized by rocky and rooty loose sections, tight, steeper switchbacks and two good sized table tops. Taking the hardest lines will result in getting to the end of the trail in the fastest times.

The trail begins on the back side of the Knobs from 'Hub C' with a couple of rocky ledges that you can roll down or send into an off-camber turn. Next, the trail straightens with sections left 'unfinished' that can be flowed over to keep your speed. The trail quickly dives into one of the more tricky sections of the entire park: a steep and loose left-handed switchback. Staying to the right and high on the trail before the turn gives you a good approach before making the turn. This switchback sends you into a series of rocky and rooty ups and downs that you require you to keep your speed enough to completely clear the two table tops further down the trail.

From this point, you'll have three more tight switchbacks that are less steep than the first one but do require some good bike handling skills to keep from losing all your speed. The end of the trail puts you onto Panorama where you can either go left to climb back up to the trailhead parking lot or head right and head towards Chairlift where you can climb back up to give this trail or any of the others another go

Like all the trails at Tannery Knobs, you'll see trail qualifiers within the first one hundred yards of each trail. Trail qualifiers give riders a glimpse of what to expect on the respective trail so they know what you are getting yourself into from the start.
