The original Deadcat Trail is the second oldest trail in this area (with Rays being the first). It is one of the most used trails as it is an access trail to other trails in the area. The trail is narrow traditional singletrack, the surface is generally fast and firm. The track winds through jarrah forest, and includes two small bridges and a zig zag climb.
The track is usually ridden from south to north, starting at at small parking area at Mornington Road and ending at the Rays Track carpark on the Harris River road. The northern end connects to several other tracks, and the new Deadcat Trail extension loops back to the start area on the Mornington Road.
The Deadcat Trail is a good beginners ride as it is fun and interesting without being overly technical.
The trail runs within a few hundred metres of the Harris Dam Road and passes the Harris River Estate Winery.

Access Info

Go north of the Collie town site on the Harris Dam road for about 2.5 km, turn left onto the Mornington Road and in about 600 metres there is a small clearing on the right with a large jarrah tree in the middle, which is the start of the trail.
