Named "Dig Bos" which is Afrikaans for Thick Bush, this trail was built when the area was covered with a dense forest of alien invasive vegetation. A fire reduced the area to a treeless space which is similar to the "Mordor" of "Lord of the Rings" fame. The name has been kept in the hope that natural vegetation will recover and restore the trail to a Cape floral kingdom celebration.
