A bike/hike-a-bike traverse track across scree and through native bush. Amazing scenery but not a track that you'd plan to ride fast. A massive drop off to one side and many corners with rocks that you have to carry your bike over, not a good track for someone with a fear of heights. Watch for slips after rain.

Access Info

Ride up the Craigieburn Ski Field access road (1-2hr climb) or find someone with a key to the gate for the ski field and get shuttled up. Park at the gate to the ski field road or at the DoC campsite off the Broken River Ski Field road and use the Sidle 73 Track to get over to the Craigieburn Rd

      we rode it in April 2026 as part of a guided trip. Really cool ride with amazing views, can be a little tight on some corners and the track across the scree can be nerve wracking for the uninitiated but such a unique trail in the area. Definitely worth a ride. It takes about 1 hour ride up from the yellow gate.

      Pretty much all rideable the whole way down. It’s a pretty cool trail for just an old walking track.

      11 January storm has washed hundreds of tons of scree down, onto cvsc road and over scree sections of track, many of which will need to be redug. Upper edge is passable but no longer all rideable…
