The original high point of the Cumberland EPIC 979. The elevation marker on the map reads 979m, although the viewpoint just south of this is 16m above at 995m. This section of trail runs along the top ridge past the weather station (stay off), and descends past multiple spectacular views of the comox glacier, forbidden, Mount Washington and across to the sunshine coast. This is Cumberland highest trail and it sure does do wonders for your ‘instagram’. This is a gravity trail meaning foot traffic yield to bikes.

Sick trail and route. Very rough cut feeling with lots of roots, holes, loamy dirt, and rock slabs. Quite physical the whole way, with short climbs at the end of each named downhill section. The viewpoint on a clear day is indeed epic.

Left Cumby at 12:15 and road our E-lites to the top. Arrived at 1:45. Was a privilege to be an early rider on this amazing piece of trail work. Kudos to the builders! Amazing views, and great single-track. Back down for tacos at 3:15. Tired and hungry!!
