Contrary to popular belief, the majority of this trail lives on California State Parks property. It is a great downhill, and was initially discovered by the world when Levi Leipheimer was filmed pitting it during the height of his professional road riding career: https://vimeo.com/8007008
Access is completely open. The top part of the trail is in the Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park and Open Space Preserve (which was formerly part of the private Mendocino Redwood Company property.)
