Keep in mind that is trail is a primarly 1-way trail, downhill.

This is an excellent trail to finish off a Subnet tour -- because the bottom of Subnet almost links to the start of Oceanside.

This trail basically has three sections. The top area is mellow with a couple of rocky sections and a bit of dense bushes along the trail. You will eventually come to a place where you see an epic view along the coast, and the trail turns back in a 180 hairpin, marking the start of the second section. For riders not intent on descending the whole trail, this is the best place to turn back.

The second section has a number of steeper rock features with more open vegetation. Most of these rock features are rolls and drops and it's generally easy to size up the moves as you approach. Take caution for the moves you cannot see, however: the crux move is a blind 5 foot drop to a sloped transition followed by a slalom turn, with no rideable B-/alternate- line. For riders who don't want to tackle this section, it can be hiked down awkwardly at the side.

After the crux is passed, the third section begins and this features a fast, straighter line along a rock ridge with a series of natural dropoffs and kickers from all the chunky rock. At the bottom of the trail you will come out on the road. As you ride back towards the Qidi Vidi lake, you will see a very steep ladder bridge on the right, which is the last part of Satan's Choice DH trail.

You might run into hikers or dog walkers at any point along this trail.

I think the blue rating on this trail is a bit deceiving. While not as difficult as the dedicated DH trails (Satan's, Long Way) it does have several mandatory features on it that would be considered black level just about anywhere. The big rock face near the top of the main descent for example. This is a classic St. John's trail and still a boat load of fun.
