A mixture of gravel road, farm track, and a little bit of single track. Takes you gently down into the Opau catchment, returns alongside the Opau wetland and climbs steeply back to the ridgeline on the Opau Bay access road.

Access Info

Turn off to Makara Beach then head up Opau Rd and follow the road to the end where there is a car park. Gates open daily at 9am, close at 4pm April-September and 6pm October-March. The area is closed during lambing season.

      The last part of the ridge line down to the coast road is not ride-able. A very under rated xc loop with a nice coastline.
