From the powerline, this trail runs more or less downhill for a long way with plenty of winding turns. Petavit means robin (the bird) in Nipmuc language. Sachem Petavit was one of the leader's of the praying Indian village before Grafton was founded, and this is why his daughter Sarah Robins (a.k.a. Sarah Petavit) took her English surname of Robins.
