Phoenix Trail

This mountain road ascends Kachina Peak's lower slopes and is accessible during the summer months. Park at the Williams Lake trailhead across from the Wheeler Peak condos on Kachina Road.

Ride down the Williams Lake Trail, pass the Bavarian and Phoenix Lodge by Lift #4, and continue up the Williams Lake Trail until you reach a turn where the Williams Lake Trail branches left, and there's a small building on the outside of the switchback.

Continue past the building to the right onto a doubletrack, then left at a road junction a little ways further. From here, the trail follows a mountain road as it winds back and forth, beneath the lift, and crossing the ski runs on a steep ascent to the base of Kachina Peak's north facing alpine bowl. Some of the climbs, being steep, require lung-busting endurance.
