The whole North Foothills system is most popularly ridden in counter-clockwise direction, though all trails are bi-directional. Primitive Trail is an unmarked, unnumbered trail that climbs up from Trail 305 to the base of, and traverses along, the base of the Sandias for roughly a mile before swiftly returning back to Trail 305. Ridden counter clockwise, it begins with a short steep climb before a punchy traverse on narrow tread. After a second steep rocky climb it descends back to trail 365 on a smooth, straightforward singletrack. as part of a and. The trail is very tight and twisty, making the trail a more technical addition to the typical North Foothills loop.
