I recommend riding this trail from N to S as a completion of the Angry Bear loop. From this direction, it begins as a double track and gains some elevation. It then leads into a single track winding and climbing through the hemlocks. There is one difficult rocky climb near the highway. There are two elevation gains after this with fun descents.

If you ride this S to N, you will climb some nasty stuff and have a straight double track descent at the end.

Agree it is better ridden North to South as the elevation gain is less technical and this sections can be ridden down much better
