Risk is one of the older trails at Dewey. It is most commonly ridden clockwise, but the eastern portion rides fine CCW as well.
Risk starts at the top of Operation. It starts out with some gradual climbing and then you punch up a steep exposed rock before coming to an intersection with the east side of Mumbly Peg. Traverse toward the west but instead of heading left toward the east side of Mumbly Peg (and eventually Sorry), Risk continues down the west side of Risk to the base area. This line takes you through the feature which inspired the name of this trail, which is a log bridge to rock garden combination. This challenging section can get slippery at times, but is a hoot when you hit it right. Afterward you'll find a rock wall ride and some tight twisty turns before you reach the lodge.
Note: One can string together a great descent by riding down either branch of Mumbly Peg and then tacking on the west side of Risk to finish.
