The history of the River Mountains Loop Trail is interesting since it represents a dream come true for many of those involved. Quite a few citizens and agencies were involved in planning, designing and constructing this multi-use, non-motorized 34-mile loop trail. It provides links and connections to other trails throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

I think clockwise is the best way to go. I started at the visitor station and had about 6 miles of sustained climbing. Then its rolling down

it's all paved but beware of the several mile section just past the parking lot of the lake mead pkwy gate entrance. this area has massive cracked expansion joints that will destroy a road bike wheel if you go too fast. be careful as it's deceptive since the pavement looks fresh and clean. that's the only bad section the whole route as everything else is fine. hopefully the city fixes it.

Amazing trail with breathtaking views of Lake Meade and Hoover Dam, taking you past many mountain climbs and exhilarating descents. Paved the entire way. Takes about 3 hrs for the loop, depending on wind.

No, it’s not a MTB rail but a road bike trail. A long and scenic one.
