Rough go offers rocky technical sections with both embedded boulders and loose rock ranging is size from pebbles to baby heads. But also smooth flowy sections of grippy, well drained single track. The climb is steady and challenging, but never unnavigable. The descent will require good terrain reading but is manageable by nearly all skill levels. This, like most other trails in this park, is a multi-use trail, requiring adherence to trail antiquate. (If you're on a bike, you yield to everything and uphill travelers have right of way.) Equestrians are not fond of this trail because of the danger that the uneven terrain poses to their horses. But you may encounter cross country runners, hikers and other riders. Riding in or immediately after wet weather is discouraged in Annadel State Park but this trail is a jewel, wet or dry. Those familiar with this trail will have observed that its character changes with the weather conditions and seasons. So each ride is different from the last. There are many ways into and out of the park, and Annadel has a way of making you earn the good stuff with a climb from the start. Rough Go lays the challenging technical ride at your feet from the start, carries you aloft to the excellent loops crisscrossing the park and then gives one more thrill on the way back out at the end of your ride, if you chose to leave this way.
