The trailhead is about 200' downhill from the first pull off on Sharp's Ridge Memorial Park Drive. Sharp Shin runs from the east end of Sharp's Ridge Memorial Park to the end of the road at the west end of the park. Although this trail is just a little over a mile long it is very challenging both technically and physically.
Sharp Shin is 95% hand built by volunteer labor from The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club. It took over 1000 hours and 2 years to finish. Steep side slopes made trail building difficult but make the ride challenging and interesting.
Sharp's Ridge drains very well. It's a great alternative to Knoxville Urban Wilderness Trail System - South Loop after rain or freeze/thaw.
