Motorbikes can only ride in Riverhead Forest at a sanctioned Waitemata Motorcycle ride. No riding at any other time.
Starts at Chatham Road and goes up the hill then along the ridge and out to Bald Hill Road.

at the north end there is a fork which leads to a trail and another unnamed skid/road - Shepherd Track is the right/east fork.

 only rode to the top of Boardwalk but with some rain it's actually got grip going up the steep bit now!

 bone dry and marbly out in the clearcut and up the hill, in the trees wasn't quite so dry

 southern end is dry but the north end in the trees is wet all the way, watch out for beehives. lots of spray paint on the trees at the north end...
