The upper part is fairly dense forest, good for hiking and horseback, could be too winding for mountain bikers. The lower part is on a moderate grade near an old stone wall, crosses a boggy creek, runs past split granite (for foundations?) and emerges in one of the fields halfway up the hill - which can be very soft in the spring (like up to your ankles). The reward is the connection between the Original Nipmuc Trail and the fields, without having to retrace your steps.
