This is the trail that continues from Ollason Peak, the popular access to Pipeline, to Black Mountain and Simas Peak (2250 ft). Parts of this trail are extremely steep (nearing 30%). Combined with the typically dry hardpack covered with a thin layer of loose gravel, providing limited grip, both the climb and descends can be difficult or impossible to bike. Several large ruts run through the trail. Most of the trail is 3-7 ft wide. The amazing views of both the Monterey Bay and the valley on the other side make the hike-a-bike well worth doing if you have the courage and skills required.
This trail continues up after Ollason Peak; instead of turning left towards Pipeline and the other trails, keep heading up on the trail that is visible from Ollason Peak.
Very steep, loose trail. Access at your own risk. Few people venture here, plan accordingly.
