Solar Ecstasy is the Pend Oreille Pedaler's newest trail, paid for with grant funds from Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Mountain Bike license plate fund, the Equinox Foundation, and from POP member support. The trail was constructed by our partners at Collaborative Trails and with over 130 hours of POP volunteer labor.

The trail offers a gentle grade of 4-6% from where it leaves High Point to where it joins the Uleda Point segment of the Watershed Crest Trail. Although it is intended as a climbing trail, it is multi-directional and offers excellent flow downhill as well.

Access Info

Solar Ecstasy can be accessed from lower High Point trail after about a 1,000 foot climb over three miles from the roundabout, after a series of switchbacks in the woods you'll come out above the tree line and see Solar Ecstasy head off to the left towards Uleda Point. Alternatively, the trail can be access from the top via the Uleda Point segment of the WCT, which can be accessed via chairlift from the top of Schweitzer Mountain Resort.

Fun flowing and fast descent - way smoother than Highpoint which will rattle your teeth out.

Cool trail. Tons of bear grass in mid July. Wonderful views. As are most trails in the area, it can be rocky.
