mtb It's mud season in Lake Placid. As of 4/12 all mountain bike trails are still variably covered with snow/ice. With warm temps in the forecast all trails will be wet, soft and muddy for several weeks. Please stay off the Lake Placid trails until further notice to prevent damage to soils. reporter Freeze/thaw Cycleview

mtb Absolutely the only trail worth riding in this network. There’s one good jump over the creek but the rest is just roots, rocks, and in some places too rough to ride. I would never go back here. Riding here is all work and no fun. Wetview

mtb During the spring, even the most sustainable trails with well-drained soils are vulnerable to damage caused by bike tires and boot soles. Riding, hiking or trail running on soft, muddy trails might feel like short-term fun, but it creates long-term impacts and decreases the quality of the trails we all love. Recreating on muddy trails encourages trail widening which damages surrounding vegetation. Avoiding wet, muddy trails altogether is the best way to prevent trail impacts, formation of persistent muddy areas and the loss of precious soil from the trails. reporter Freeze/thaw Cycleview
