Located on Mt Stirling, Stonefly is the iconic wilderness loop. Don’t let the modest 10kms fool you, the ride packs in a lot more than the map suggests. A long and sustained climb delivers the riders to the Bluff Spur Memorial Hut just below the Mt Stirling Summit, before hitting a long, technical, and rewarding descendent.

Riding amazing. The descent is superb. Signage around Howqua gap not updated after changes to network - not cool

Be VERY careful to start this trail the right way (go clockwise) from Howqua Gap, where the signs are confusing and lead many to start the wrong way. There are about 9 trails leading out of the gap. You should be leading close to the Circuit Rd and see a creek washing over flagstones very soon after starting. Check your app to make sure.

We hope you've been enjoying Trailforks!
