mtb City of Toronto will be paving a short section of the Sun Valley loop trail to prevent trail erosion reduce the need for ongoing maintenance and protect the soil cap covering the landfill material below.

This work will improve safety, environmental sustainability and user experience. During this time, some of the trails will be closed to the public.

Please respect all trail closures and stay clear of all construction areas and vehicles.

hike TRCA and the City of Toronto will be collecting data on trail conditions in Crothers Woods on Wednesday June 16, using the High Efficiency Trail Assessment Process (HETAP). This process uses a specialized pushcart, which has measurement sensors and input operations that collect data like GPS coordinates, grade, slope, width and trail type. hike TRCA and the City of Toronto will be installing trail counters along selected trails within Crothers Woods and ET Seton Park. The counters use small, infrared scopes mounted in specially constructed posts that are pointed towards the trail. The post will include a sign describing its purpose. The counter detects and counts the infrared signature associated with warm, moving objects. The counters do not take photographs or record video. They only record the number of trips taken on the trail. The data collected will help inform the planning process on trail development, maintenance and improvements. mtb Hazard Tree Removal in Crothers Woods: The City of Toronto’s Urban Forestry Branch will be removing dead and hazardous branches and trees throughout the Crothers Woods to reduce the risk of potential injury to recreational trail users.
