A narrow, rooty, pedally, native forest singletrack with creek crossings that winds its way down toward Takaka. The first 5km of track rolls gently downhill with some pedalling required through rock garden sections and a few mostly rideable creek crossings. The last 1km of track loses elevation much more quickly.
Links on to the Pack Track, Great Expectations and The Klicks. Well worth making a day out of it.
Access Info
At the top of Takaka hill, turn onto Canaan road and continue to the carpark at the end. Turn right and ride up the 4wd track and left onto the Rameka track.

Best conditions for years, super smooth and fast, for a beach forest track! One small slip, easy to walk round. Odyssey at the end is closed with slips but original past Martins bench is still a stunning ride, fast and flowing.

Definitely one for more experienced riders: as others have said lots of roots and rocks and sections unrideable. Pity really as with a bit of work would be an epic downhill. Last section is grade 2 or 3 and a nicer ride (although still with some roots and rocks and a few really tight corners). Creds to the masochists we met riding up it!

Epic trail. Rooty rocky techy stuff. Pedally for the first bit but not annoyingly so. Definitely wouldn’t give it a grade 4, my mate road it on a gravel bike with no suspension in the pouring rain. Solid grade 3
