You would think that following close to a railway line would make for a flatish ride. You would be wrong. This trail has lots of steep up's and down's. Graded by BLM as black, it doesn't feel very technical on a mountain bike, just the occasional steep ascent that you may feel the need to walk.
The trail has some nice views of the mountains in the distance, and there are opportunities to see 2 large old train trestles as well.
The northern part of this trail travels through Forest Service Land, and there are some junctions with FS numbers instead of BLM numbers. Heading Clockwise, BLM21 changes to FS7811, which changes momentarily to FS8623, before crossing back into BLM.
