Difficult from Nevada side, but rewards with awesome views down into Carson Valley, then shady steady work before abrupt unclimbable stairstep switchbacks get you up to the saddle in a hurry From there you can continue the TRT to Star Lake or go right and out on Cold Creek and Powerline, as I did.

      If going up, ride the Heavenly maintenance road when given the opportunity. It skips a really rocky and nearly unrideable uphill section.
