Out & Back trail built to traverse from the valley floor across multiple spines criss crossing both park land & private property. All man made singletrack. NO BAIL OUT trails or roads on the route, so plan accordingly.
Multiple scenic spots. Reaching the pinnacle at Eagle Rock is well worth the work.
Make sure to check out the short spur "Eye of the Needle" side trail just under Eagle Rock as well.

Rode most of this trail yesterday. Amazing trail in the first 2/3 way up. However after the big rock slab overlook, the trail was extremely overgrown with thorne branches and downed trees and general weeds that caused a lot of tick anxiety. I ended up turning around without getting to reach the top due to this. Can some trail faries clear the top please?!? I appreciate all the work. I was so bummed I just couldn't see the whole thing!

I confirmed with Lake Lure Parks that e-bikes (pedal assisted) bikes are allowed on the Buffalo Creek trail and Weed Patch trail. However, as of 03/17/2026 the trails are closed but will open soon. I was told to keep checking their website:

        https://www.townoflakelure.com/parksreclak/page/buffalo-creek-park-currently-closed-due-damage-hurricane-helene

I gave them info about the Trailbot app and they are looking to register with the app to report trail conditions and updates!

I thought this trail allowed e-bikes? Trail forks says it is no longer e-bike rideable. When did this change?

We hope you've been enjoying Trailforks!
