The White Cub was constructed in the mid-2000's to provide an alternative route to the Biathlon Stadium as well as being a way to avoid the high speed downhill on the White Bear where it leaves Birch Hill Recreation Area (BHRA) and enters Fort Wainwright Lands. About half of White Cub is on BHRA land and half on Fort Wainwright land. The trail is not lighted. White Cub diverges from White Bear/White Bear Access about 30m after departing from the Birch Hill Ski Stadium, and gradually descends with only a few very short ascents, all the way to the Biathlon Stadium. White Cub has become a very popular trail. The lower part of the trail can be quite wet and soft in the summer.
