INJURY: went off a jump with a berm landing, bailed wrong, and did a nose dive into the ground. it took 4 docs and three surgeries to find out that i had broken my collarbone, stage four ac separation, and a compression fracture in my back. oh and with a stage four ac separation, your collarbone is actually shoved up behind your shoulder

 i broke my collar bone first day back after messing up my knee.. 9 screws and a metal plate later.. i lasted 4 days before i was riding my bike to the beach... 4 weeks later started hitting jumps... couldnt handle waiting the 8 weeks i was told to wait

 haha really? that's sick. i wish i could have done that but my collarbone was stuck behind my shoulder bone, the end disintegrated, i had 6 torn ligaments, and a compression fracture in my back...haha i couldn't physically move my arm for 6 months...and after that i could barely stay on my bike...so i had my third surgery

 that nutty.. yeah mine was just way outta place like sticking up from the top of my shoulder but not through the skin... and now i just have a spot in my collar bone that is a bit bigger than a golf ball

 yeah they were actually going to try to put a plate and screws in, but it didn't work because my collarbone was partially shattered and in such a weird placement...ugg that sounds horrible! which shoulder is it?

 its my left shoulder and yeah. i was broken in to a few places and a nice bit of road rash... ill habe some sweet xrays to post after i go back at the end of august..... to lazy to post any of the injury itself right now

 definitely post the x-rays!! those must be pretty gnarly with all the screws and plate. what did you do to your knee? you should post pics of your scar..i want to see if it looks like mine haha!

 yeah its just a nice line across my shoulder... but my collar bone is now a bit bigger than a golf ball which kinda sucks.. i cant tilt my head all the way to the right cause the muscles in my neck start to pull tight

 oh that sucks. is the plate constricting the muscles or something? yeah i had bone grow on the top of my collarbone for some reason, so i had a huge bump too..luckily they shaved that off during surgery

 i feel your pain i just broke my wrist in a car crash after being up in winter park all weekend riding and watchin crankworx.. wouldnt be so bad but i just started ridin 3 weeks early after crashing at up at Valmont and gettin a class 2 tear in my ac joint.. hang in there atleast you live in this wonderful place ive only been here a couple months

 wow i am sooo sorry! that is a bummer...two injuries consecutively would be soo frustrating. having one prolonged injury is bad enough. how do you like valmont? pretty amazing hunh? there have been around 30 injuries so far there haha...awww thanks!! good luck with your shoulder!

 yeah valmont is the coolest place ever i can't get enough.. everyone hurts themselves on the same jump on the large line its terrible though. but thanks im tryin not to hop on the bike but i cant make any promises. how long till you can get back on

 i love editing though haha...bahahahahahaha my super sweet moves eh? yeah i've had PLENTY of time to perfect them haha. i have found that flippers are the best type of dancing shoe. my biggest plan would be to stay on my bike...i am pretty nervous about my first ride because i am going to be terrible.

 Yeh im doing ok i guess, the ol'ankle hurts when going over jumps but just need to keep riding and applying pressure and build the muscle back up Smile . Last year i was new to the whole sport and didnt really know that much about it, and guys i had met said take the front brake off, kept asking my dad to take it off and he didnt, i went over a jump about 10 meters from some big trees in a mass panic pulled the front brake went over the bars sideways landed on my head ( was wearing a helmet it basically saved my life cause i landed on my neck/head also) and came down on my shoulder litterly yards from smashing into the oaks Frown

 i have had my cast off 3 weeks on Tuesday and am already riding Big Grin How did you break your ankle ?? And how long did it take to build the muscle back up in it ?? ( need tips want to ride properly again )

 that's really good!! i actually broke it doing gymnastics...i was doing a back-flip off the uneven bars and i landed wrong. i can still remember the first two nights...they were horrible haha. i had to have 2 surgeries to fix it Frown ummm it didn't actually take that long (it just felt like forever) because i did a ton of ankle exercises. stuff like calf raises and such really, really help...oh and swimming helps too!! make sure you stretch it every morning so it doesn't get stiff

 I feel ya, after a car knocked me of my XC bike the bones on my wrists keep getting out of place everytime I go DH riding so I have to wear wristbands when I ride and after I ride. hope you can get on your bike ASAP

 I already have a gnarly scare on my right knee and I'll have bother one after sugary and I'll have a big horse shoe on my left knee after surgery and last time I didn't have them done at the same time but this time I'm hoping to get them done at the same time and yep it was pretty painful

 how did they not see it on an x-ray of cat scan ? ive been through a lot of injuries that doctors couldnt work out put in a cat scan and it was clear as im sure they would notice the seperation and the collar bone misplaced ? good to see you healig thugh

 well the first doctor saw that it was displaced, but said he would rather have it like that than give me a scar on my shoulder. then the second doctor did surgery and tied my collarbone to the bone behind it and thought that would fix it. the third doctor took cat scans and tons of x-rays and figured out about the torn ligaments and such and realized simply tying the bones wasn't going to fix it. so he did the third surgery where he reconstructed my ac joint with my hamstring...aww thank you!!

 i know how frustrating it can be i have had a 1 year incident but that was sooo bad they thought i wouldnt walk again and from then on i have still hurt myself haha but i always get on the bike again !

 i shattered a disc and broke my pelvis in 4 places along with my shoulder so i was in a bad way tried to walk out of the woods too which was a bad idea haha woke up 3 days later

 amazing that you were able to maintain your sense of humor through it apparently! haha, very cute video! I tend to have 1 big injury per year... torn shoulder, broken pelvis, shattered elbow, broken hand... and most recently a concussion that took over 5 months to heal. I *finally* got to ride my dirt jumper again at an indoor bike park 2 weeks ago and it was just... the best. This concussion was the worst because for a long time I couldn't get my heart rate up, drink coffee or alcohol, watch screens, read.... most boring time of my life & watching my muscles & fitness waste away...... Anyhow! Props to you for the video and the POD (which is clearly how I stumbled upon stalking you) and I hope you have an awesome injury free season Smile I find you & your story very motivating!!

 First off, I am pretty sure your stories make mine sound like I am whining haha!!! A broken pelvis, shattered elbow?! Holy carpet bag... Dang! I didn't know concussions could be that damaging!! Mad props, you must be a crazy awesome shredder to achieve those injuries! The reason why I took so long to heal was because of sexist doctors that didn't fully diagnose my injuries. As a result, my body deteriorated and it took probably twice as long to heal up. Despite that, I am so glad I went through it! I value riding so much more than I did and I am a faster/better rider for it!

 u should still go riding. I broke my foot, fractured two fingers and split my hand open in one ride. i went to the E.R. and after surgery i went and hopped on my bike and went back to the same trail and did it again all in the same day. thats how bada*s i am

 its freaking sweet. the only down side to riding here in Utah is, if you aren't in virgin UT then it is a giant gravel pit. I am really good at riding loose gravely stuff as a result, and bikes look really cool covered in red dust. I wouldnt know what to do with loam and traction. i dunno about riding in colorado though. rhiannon whats colorado like

 haha!! at least you have public health. this year i broke my collar bone twice, re adjusted my jaw taking my knee to my face snowboardin, had 2 concussions, and last week i broke my big toe dropping a bike stand on it. only went to the hospital for the 1st collarbone all because insurance companies say i'm high risk and wont cover me.and i cant afford medical bills. god bless the usa right

 yeah? well colorado has a lot of potential for downhill, but for some reason the resorts aren't taking advantage of it. if that makes sense at all haha. i think that will change pretty fast though because the bike scene here is growing really fast. montana would be amazing because you would be so close to kamloops and whistler

 ouch, to be honest it didn't hurt almost anything, just was scared of being alone on the landing of a drop where someone could land on me, but i didn't hurt just was scared because i was riding alone, so i just started screaming until someone dropped and helped me.

 haha thank you!! ummm well it happened two years ago...i was riding at the cu research park and i went off a sketchy jump with a berm landing, bailed wrong, and did a nose dive into the ground and skidded on my back for a couple yards. it took 4 docs and three surgeries to find out that i had broken my collarbone, had a stage four ac separation, and a compression fracture in my back. because it took forever to find this out, the end of my collarbone disintegrated so my collarbone will never connect how it supposed to. oh and with a stage four ac seperation, your collarbone is actually shoved up behind your shoulder
