Trailforks History Timeline
A lot has happened along the way, here are some highlights.
Spring 2010
Trevor May creates a Facebook app called "Ridelog" for tracking your mountain bike rides. A simple app that logs the days you ride, tagging your friends & trails.
August 2011
Idea for a trail database with dynamic maps is born. To help populate the "trails" selection of the Ridelog app.
February 6, 2012
Trailforks.com is launched, a trail database featuring dynamic trail maps and tools geared to help trail associations. The data from the Ridelog Facebook app is migrated into Trailforks. Gaining popularity fast in British Columbia and Canada.
2013
Pinkbike acquires Trailforks.com and hires Trevor May to continue building the platform. Original website is closed while a new site is built. Trailforks to help fill the missing trails piece of Radek Burkat's vision for Pinkbike.
December, 2013
Old Pinkbike shop directory is rebuilt as Pinkbike Places. It expands it's reach to include trail associations to prepare for the relaunch of Trailforks.
September 30, 2014
Pinkbike purchases Utah based skidmap.com and migrates it's trail data into Trailforks. It's creator Todd Neumarker joins the Trailforks team part-time. Brent Hillier also joins the team to help grow Trailforks with trail associations and hear their needs.
October 16, 2014
The new rebuilt Trailforks.com is launched world-wide. Built upon the Pinkbike platform created by Radek Burkat.
Spring 2015
Early test versions of a Trailforks mobile app are released for submitting trail reports and trail photos.
Trailforks has it's first booth at Sea Otter Classic.
June 2015
Expanding features and tools for trail associations & builders.
Close partnership with the NSMBA including "Official Reporters" program.
August 2015
Trailforks releases a Whistler Outerbike app, a re-branded version of the Trailforks app in development. Trailforks attends it's first Crankworx event & features a tv commercial.
August 2015
First Trailforks t-shirts and socks for sale.
September 2, 2015
Trailforks mobile app is launched! Developed by Ben Tomas, Trevor May & Radek Burkat.
Trailforks has first booth at Interbike in Las Vegas.
August, 2017
First Trailforks Trail Challenge contest at Crankworx Whistler. Pinkbike marketing team lead by Alan Golds become more active in promoting the Trailforks brand.
November, 2017
Trailforks reaches 100,000 trails in the database.
2018
Trailforks partners with EWS.
April, 2018
Trailforks official mapping partner of Sea Otter Classic, expanded branding at the event.
July 26, 2018
Trailforks beer! Trailforks Partners with Whistler Brewing to Give Back to the Trails.
Mark Holloway officially joins Trailforks team to help foster relationships with trail associations and manage the growing content.
Jan, 2020
200,000 trails reached, growth excellerating.
Feb, 2020
Trailforks team in Sedona.
March, 2020
Trailforks adds COVID19 warnings and later in the year many trail associations and events turn to Trailforks badges to run virtual races and challenges.
Summer, 2021
Trailforks wrapped truck for the Pinkbike Academy.
Trailforks the official mapping app for Whistler Bike Park.
Fall, 2021
Trailforks adds many new map layers and new app map UI.
Modernization of the app codebase being led by Stephane Virte.
Summer, 2022
Trailforks passes 500,000 trails in the database.
