CVC Clarens Village Conservancy
|
The Clarens Village Conservancy (CVC) was registered as a conservancy in 2004. It is managed by Clarens residents who care for nature and conservation. As a non-profit organisation (068-115 NPO), the CVC, in partnership with the Dihlabeng Municipality, maintains the Clarens Nature Reserve with donations, member fees and income from Clarens events. The CVC employs rangers who maintain the hiking trails, bridges, remove invasive plant species, and see that nature conservation rules are adhered to. The Clarens Village Conservancy routes offer a little bit of everything, such as bird watching, picnics at well shaded spots, taking a rest on a bench with a view, swimming in summer, but above all: beautiful mountain views. The time and distance indicators will help you to plan your routes. Several routes can also be connected together for those who want to take longer walks. Route descriptions are from one direction, but all routes can also be done in the reverse direction. Use our map and route indicators as a guide. Most routes are in the Clarens Conservancy, but for completeness, we have also indicated the Mount Horeb Climb, starting on the Clarens golf estate.
A R60.00 permit is required to use the Trails for hiking and cycling. The CVC hiking trail map serves as a hiking, fishing, and cycling permit and can be purchased from several businesses in the village and on our website (link above).
Mountain Bikers are advised to visit Clarens Xtreme to purchase a permit and to get the latest information on the status of the different trails (link above).
