Snyderville Basin Recreation District serves the recreation desires of the community in the unincorporated area north of Park City, UT. Basin Recreation manages over 140 miles of the non-motorized system of trails that was given the IMBA Gold Level Ride Center Award in 2012. As of 2014, the Trails Department maintains 21 miles of paved trails, 10 miles of soft surface trails, 108 miles of natural surface trails, and the Trailside Bike Park. The local trails inventory includes the popular Mid-Mountain Trail and Flying Dog Trail along with other local favorites such as The Road to Arcylon and Pinecone Ridge Trail. As of 2014, over 18 miles of multi-use winter trails are groomed and a majority of the backcountry trails are popular snowshoeing routes. The system of trails in the Snyderville Basin is undergoing continued expansion. With over 2300 acres in open space acquisitions in the last twelve months, new back-country trail opportunities will continue to grow.

This system of trails was made possible by working collaboratively with numerous developers, private property owners, other governmental entities, and non-profit trail advocacy organizations. Residents of the District have supported funding of construction by approving over $10 million earmarked for trail system improvements through voter authorized bonds since 2002. The majority of trails in the Basin are on private land and the connectivity of the system can be attributed to the generosity of these land owners. By staying on designated public trails, trail users can help preserve public access on private lands. The future of our trail depends on this continued cooperation. At the same time, the natural resources we enjoy in the backcountry will be protected.
