A number of slides and erosion have caused the tread to sluff or otherwise be unrideable around miles 28-29 (the top half of the descent), adding ~45 minutes of walking. Needs a LOT of maintenance or rework to make it last. Dryview

Lots of mud throughout the first 15 miles. Significant number of loose rocks. Trail feels basically unmaintained through middle third, lots of bushwhacking, scrapes from branches and overgrowth. Prevalent Mudview

Trail is running sweet. Cleared 3 or 4 trees, one was a little two heavy to move on my own so keep an eye out. Bottom was running good, few sandy spots but 100% ride able. Variableview

As mentioned above with significant damage from Keyhole down. There is decent scrub oak overgrowth hiding the lurking rocks in the midsection traverse. Trail needs some serious lovin' Unknownview

Still swampy first few miles off lands end road 6/18/23. Whitewater creek has slowed significantly and has a log you can walk across. Lots of loose softball sized rocks on the traverse. SUPER overgrown in spots. Last 6 or 7 miles is very sluffed, lose, shale, sand, narrowing and needs a lot of work to be able to carry any sort of speed. The drainage at the bottom is great. It may always be like this in the spring, I’ve always ridden it in the fall and conditions have been much much better. It seems as if the trail is deteriorating sense it’s opening. Wetview

Rode it today, quite swampy up high but a lot of it is avoidable by hiking around etc. The issue is Whitewater creek, it is ripping. If you are going to ride it take caution and be prepared to get wet up to your mid thigh/ waist. The middle/ bottom is running okay, mixture of hoof stomped and very loose rock and sand. First time on the trail for me, it's an adventure ride! Wetview

Dipped off the lands end road to check out whitewater creek as I heard it’s running pretty good. Hadn’t even made it 100 yards and found trail wet enough to have standing water. Others left ruts here and it was that nasty sticky mud. I turned around as I didn’t want to hurt the trail. I rode up to the observatory and even the road close to the top had huge amounts of snow still and started leaving ruts on the road. I got to the top and rode out towards whitewater creek to try to assess how high it is. Couldn’t see it well but it sounded like lots of water. Probably not a good idea to attempt even the lower plunge yet. As of 5/28 cheers Wetview

From mile 15 beginning at Lands End the trail is entirely dry. There is one small stream crossing that is muddy that ultimately needs to be laced with rocks. There are 2 fallen trees. Lots of sluff from erosion. Sandy in spots as usual. The trail has probably seen ~20 sets of tracks this season, so it's very soft. Crews were working on major rockfall sections and will likely clean up the sluff soon. There are signs saying it's closed still FYI. Thank your trail crews for this epic achievement of a trail. Hard to call this fun. Certainly an adventure, but far from the definition of good MTB riding. The historic switchbacks at the top are novel and there are some good sections in the first 11 miles but they are short and interspersed with janky rock. At ~11 miles the trail starts the major descent, the narrow and loose tread combined with the extreme exposure make this more of an exercise in concentration than a fun ride. The next trail, plunge lower, is fun and technical in spots. Dryview

Do yourself a favor and skip the first 12 miles.

Fun scenic trail but not a ton of flow. Worth the ride but a one and done for me.

Definitely not a ride for a novice rider lot of tech and climbing
