Very shady outside of midday, a few little creek crossings for water but last one is 2 miles up so plan accordingly to summit and back. Forest service has done amazing work in a down tree area to remove felled trees and build up the trail. My watch clocked it closer to 8k. The straight aways are just long stretches' of straight that you have to slog through. All the roads were clear of snow, but be warned that if you get significant rain there are sections of this trail that turn into a sludge bog that will quickly glue 50 pounds of mud to your bike. You can't try and ride through this, you have to hike around it or wait for it to dry. I love this route, it is indescribably beautiful. During the week it is best with less ATVs than on weekends. It is an epic, all time best of Utah route. It is definitely not a gravel route though, lots of rutty and rocky downhill sections would force you to go super slow on a gravel bike, hardtail is the best choice. | Dry | view | |||
