Apr 26, 2026 @ 8:33pm (America/Phoenix) Apr 26, 2026 | mtb Major re-route work is in process and will be completed in the fall of 2026. The northern 3/4 of the trail have been re-routed out of the creek and should hold up much better than the old alignment. The southern end of the trail still follows the bottom of the creek bed and is hard to follow in places. | Unknown | view

Dec 27, 2025 @ 9:48am (America/Phoenix) Dec 27, 2025 | hike Canyon is still in color in many places and trail is in good shape, except for plenty of horse pudding to avoid. One of the best hikes in the area for sure... | Dry | view
Nov 19, 2025 @ 6:47pm (America/Phoenix) Nov 19, 2025 | mtb This trail is destroyed. After a few minutes the trail disappears and one is left with a progressively harder scramble down a blown-out canyon. It soon becomes very dangerous - you risk serious injury if you try to hike-a-bike. I made it about 1/3 of a mile after about an hour and then had to climb an animal trail out to the road to the east in order to make it back to the TH before sunset. | Unknown | view

Nov 19, 2024 @ 11:12am Nov 19, 2024 | mtb Trail was in good shape, but very dry with no water flowing. This was great because my last trip wafer was flowing and had to ride out after 1" of rain and hail and wet sand and mud at 38 deg, was almost life threatening and Only issue was overgrown vegetation, cats claw was terrible, next time need to bring clippers... | Dry | view

Feb 18, 2024 @ 6:47am Feb 18, 2024 | mtb Good riding conditions - trail is well maintained. Only downsides: (i) occasional horse apples on trail - but easily avoidable; (ii) a few soft dirt spots but siding on the edge of the trail helps; (iii) creek has water in it - all crossings can be ridden but you may get muddy. Not crowded (especially for a perfect Sunday). Only encountered a handful of hikers and one couple on horses. | Dry | view
Feb 18, 2024 @ 6:47am Feb 18, 2024 | mtb Fun option if riding east to west, although there will be a short hike-a-bike spot where there are a flight of stone steps. But upside is much less on-bike climbing. Fun downhill. | Very Dry | view
Jan 27, 2024 @ 6:48am Jan 27, 2024 | mtb Great trail conditions 5 days after rains. | Ideal | view
Jan 27, 2024 @ 6:48am Jan 27, 2024 | mtb Trail’s in great condition other than handful of cat claws and palo verdes that like to grab and snag. Wear protective arm sleeves and knee high socks. | Dry | view

Dec 29, 2023 @ 6:26am Dec 29, 2023 | mtb Not bad until the Reavis Canyon TH, south. Then it's a steep switchback climb. Shared with groups of ATVs and Jeeps. Big loose rocks. Not fun. Used to hookup to the Reavis trail on top. Would not ride again. | Dry | view
Dec 29, 2023 @ 6:22am Dec 29, 2023 | mtb Great trail. Fun riding, not too steep, great scenery. Some water crossings, dry on my trip | Dry | view
Dec 29, 2023 @ 6:18am Dec 29, 2023 | mtb Rocky, loose gravel, steep switchbacks, overgrown with thorns.Luckily, I rode the gravel road up canyon, which was brutal in its own right. The Reavis trail is not designed for MTB. Would be pushbike if ridden uphill... It's barely rideable downhill until you get off the switchbacked ridges.. My fingers and shins were ripped from the thorns. Would not ride again... | Dry | view
Nov 5, 2023 @ 2:31pm Nov 5, 2023 | mtb telegraph trail is still a rough one with bush whacking and hike a bike for a good portion of the trail. Would suggest to ride the road and go down Arnett. | Dry | view
Sep 3, 2023 @ 11:02pm Sep 3, 2023 | ebike Lots of over growth- the cat claw is horrible | Dry | view

May 6, 2023 @ 8:01pm May 6, 2023 | mtb overgrown af, maybe that is why its called L.O.S.T? once you get passed this section the next section, through the canyon, is nice. | Variable | view

Mar 22, 2022 @ 4:17pm Mar 22, 2022 | mtb Rode 14 mi out and 14 back. The good news is that it's riding much better than last fall. Tall grass covering the trail is no longer an issue and trail crews have done some work. The bad news is there is still much more loose rock than usual on the trail tread. Mi 3 to 6 and 10 to 14 seemed especially rocky (even for picketpost). With a bit more trail work on the trail tread this trail will be back to its pre-fire condition | Dry | view
Feb 6, 2022 @ 6:12am Feb 6, 2022 | mtb Trail is in very good condition, especially considering the fire damage this past year - kudos to rangers and trail maintenance stewards! A few more loose rocks than normal, but nothing that won't get sorted out with more bike tires rolling through. | Dry | view
Dec 9, 2021 @ 6:58am Dec 9, 2021 | mtb Picketpost is usually one of my favorites. Went out for the first time since the fire and it is a bit rougher now. Lots of horse tracks on the first couple mines, then the burned section has a bit of loose rock in the trail tread and new tall grass everywhere that makes the rocks hard to see. Usually love to go out 14 miles and then turn around but pulled the plug at mile 6. Not xc friendly right now but on a bigger bike with meaty tires could be okay. Hopefully some trail maintenance will happen this winter! | Dry | view
Dec 8, 2021 @ 8:36am Dec 8, 2021 | mtb We always ride the Picketpost section to the south and had never tried this section to the north. Now, I can see why very few bikes come on this route. There are a few interesting moments early on but also lots of gates, sandy washes, and generally rocky trail. Whereas Picketpost has beautiful rocks and views, this route takes you into rolling hills on a fairly uninspiring trail that is primarily used by horses and sees very little bike traffic. It's all passable but don't expect much flow or speed. | Dry | view
Dec 8, 2021 @ 8:33am Dec 8, 2021 | mtb How do you feel about lots of sand? This is a very beautiful trail in the canyon with amazing rock and even some water. However, it is clearly more of a hiking trail than a biking trail with sand everywhere. If you do it, I highly recommend going from east to west so that you are headed in the downhill direction. This will also make it possible to ride a number of stone step areas that were clearly designed for hikers and not bikes. | Dry | view
Dec 8, 2021 @ 8:30am Dec 8, 2021 | mtb Picketpost is usually one of my favorite big rides but it is running a bit rough right now. Horses have made the first couple of miles pretty loose. Then, you get into the fire section where there are lots of small rocks in the trail tread and grass has grown up in the burned areas to obscure your visibility of what's ahead. Sometimes this is a fun one on the XC bike but right now bring your big bike and meaty tires and plan for a rockier ride than usual. Let's hope some maintenance gets done this winter to restore this great trail! | Dry | view

Dec 12, 2020 @ 7:49pm Dec 12, 2020 | mtb Great views. Overgrown with sharp bushes for much of the trail but 100 percent rideable. Fun and challenging alpine style switchbacks up top | Dry | view

Feb 26, 2020 @ 2:30pm Feb 26, 2020 | mtb One of my favorite rides of all time, so far. After Friday and Saturdays 21st and 22nd heavy rain, there was plenty of water in small side drainages and the big water catchment at the top of the hill. There was significantly less water once you reach the river. The river was flowing but we opted not to use that water. It was very murky and probably plug most filters. The trail itself is in very good condition. There was a saguaro across the trail South of the catchment tank and North of the power lines. It was small and easy to step over. Looks like maintenance has been done to parts of the trail recently. There is road access just North of the river intersection and a small flat camping spot above the river. We camped overnight there, it was plenty roomy for 3 of us and all our gear. It would be a great place for a water drop. There is a short steep old jeep road about 3 miles north of the river. It has very sharp broken rock top to bottom, I cut my rear tire even riding carefully. I would choose to walk it next time. Otherwise A-1 experience. Oh, and the poppies and wildflowers are blooming | Ideal | view
Jan 9, 2020 @ 8:07am Jan 9, 2020 | mtb Beautiful trail very well done. The creeks were running low easy to ford. Try to see this trail in all four seasons it's worth it. | Variable | view
Jan 5, 2020 @ 7:27am Jan 5, 2020 | mtb There is water flowing in a few of the washes. Otherwise dry. | Dry | view
Jan 1, 2020 @ 5:15pm Jan 1, 2020 | mtb Wet and loose. Primarily a horse trail with a lot of creek crossings. I wouldn't recommend biking this trail, especially now. | Wet | view
Jan 1, 2020 @ 7:57am Jan 1, 2020 | mtb Old jeep road that is very rough rocky for most of the section I road when I did a loop around pickets post. Still a pretty area but dont expect to ride it very fast. | Variable | view
Nov 27, 2019 @ 5:22am Nov 27, 2019 | mtb Rougher stretch not sure it deserves black but still a delightgul pedal, conditions were very good when I was thru there before out last big rainfall. | Unknown | view
Nov 27, 2019 @ 5:11am Nov 27, 2019 | mtb Great stretch of trail, buff, rocky, ascents, descents with a few technical spots, it has it all but mostly great views with great riding! | Unknown | view
Nov 27, 2019 @ 5:02am Nov 27, 2019 | mtb I rode a good 22 mile loop out there and started it with Arnett, what a great ride, Arnett starts off buff with spectacular views as it drops into the canyon, it was soft at times but my 2.35 did just fine. Absolutely stunning in there and worth a trip. | Dry | view
Nov 2, 2019 @ 8:12am Nov 2, 2019 | mtb Nice section of AZT. The trail work people did last season held up. The drains need cleaning and just a small amount of brushing. Great work whoever takes care of this section. | Dry | view
May 27, 2019 @ 5:32pm May 27, 2019 | mtb Cactus down across trail about 5 M in, but the trail is great. Went out 10 and back. Back was fantastic. A bit narrow in places. Loved it. | Dry | view
May 27, 2019 @ 5:30pm May 27, 2019 | mtb Rode out about 10 miles then turned around for a short trip. Amazing trail. High great right now and narrow singletrack but beautiful. Fun fun fun on the way back. | Dry | view
May 9, 2019 @ 9:16am May 9, 2019 | mtb What a beautiful ride. Going west to east slight climb from AZT then a easy ride into a canyon with nice shade and a couple of creeks that were running this time of year. | Variable | view
Mar 31, 2019 @ 11:00am Mar 31, 2019 | mtb Trail is in great condition. Grass is quite tall but trail easy to see. Watch out for ricks lurking at trails edge in the grass | Dry | view

Mar 17, 2019 @ 2:43pm Mar 17, 2019 | mtb Rode Picketpost to Kelvin yesterday - trail is in terrific condition; negligible catclaw and one minor section about 12-13 miles in a bit buggered up where a large saguaro cactus fell into the trail. Flowers prolific after breaking over peak south of Picketpost. I'd venture to say this is one of the best rides in the Western U.S. | Dry | view

Dec 29, 2018 @ 2:33pm Dec 29, 2018 | mtb Started at Picketpost TH and rode approx 10 miles out. Trail got progressively overgrown the further I went. My legs and arms were pretty torn up. Fun, albeit a primitive experience. | Dry | view
Dec 25, 2018 @ 2:28pm Dec 25, 2018 | mtb Gorgeous! Rode ~6 miles from picketpost up and down. Rocky, sometimes loose, sometimes sandy. Thorny? Let's say long sleeves and full-finger gloves will improve the ride quality. Some tricky bits but very rideable. | Dry | view
Nov 17, 2018 @ 11:58am Nov 17, 2018 | mtb Good trail. Fun with some challenges. Only went in 5.5 miles. Most was rideable. Some loose areas, but not too bad. | Dry | view

May 16, 2018 @ 3:53pm May 16, 2018 | mtb Overall the trail is lose, not too techonical. Might have to hike a bike in some areas. Arms got pretty scratched up. Some area's are overgrown with brush. Had a run-in with a diamondback rattlesnake on the way down. The area wasn't very trafficked so have to be careful. I went to the fence and came back down. | Very Dry | view

Nov 13, 2017 @ 8:19pm Nov 13, 2017 | mtb Cat claw vegetation a painful factor throughout ride. Worst during the first 10 miles out of Picketpost. Not much erosion damage to note. | Very Dry | view
Jan 28, 2017 @ 10:11pm Jan 28, 2017 | mtb Scrabbley Loose big gravel | Dry | view
Jan 28, 2017 @ 9:46pm Jan 28, 2017 | mtb South end has many creek crossings and while not deep now, there is evidence that the it busted its banks and washed some of the trail away and most of the crossings are a pretty big drop in with no transition. After you cross FR650 (N Happy Camp) the riding is much better up to the trail head | Variable | view
Jan 26, 2017 @ 5:48pm Jan 26, 2017 | mtb The trail is quite wet in spots. A large Saguaro is down across the trail at the 6.2 mile mark. | Variable | view |
