Some of the bridges look and feel like they're near failure - especially the long one that's been there for well over 30 years. Those pine logs are getting delicate.

In fact, those bridges have never been better. Over the years I replaced about 40% of the rungs as they rotted out, and installed at least six new support beams amongst three or four of the bridges. But none of the bridges have any pine in them whatsoever. Admittedly, they are not to everyone's taste... replacing them with milled SPF lumber is certainly an option going forward.

I agree. I rode the trail yesterday and at least a couple of the wooden bridges felt close to failing.
