Jun 21, 2026 Nelson Trail Trail Report

This trails is pretty overgrown in some spots, which makes it hard to go quickly and also has some invisible traps, like creek crossings, little bridges, and small fallen trees to run into. It's kind of a technical trail to begin with and with the added overgrowth this is a pretty dang tricky. That said I rode it twice this weekend. First time I rode from the bottom and made it up about two miles then rode down. the climb up was really technical but mostly rideable. the ride down, even overgrown was really fun.

second day I took the highway to the top then rode the entire thing downhill. overall just a pretty solid trail just needs a little love to be back to its former glory.

I was going up here for a camping weekend anyways, so brought my bike and figured I'd explore. I'd say if you're in that situation, it's worth checking out, but if you're thinking about going here just to ride, I'd say your time is better spent elsewhere.

I put some other reports for other nearby trails. I know Bear Creek is the former big shuttle ride but didn't manage to make it there, so can't report on its condition.
