Description:
Very scenic trail that gets little use. Highly recommended for its scenic vistas and lonely feel.
No deadfall, mostly dry and in ideal condition. Trail surface on the east side of the high point in super condition and mostly smooth overall despite equestrian use, seems rebuilt and machine cut. Trail on the west side of the high point not quite in as good condition but still highly navigable. Hardest point on the climb is the uphill gradient after the intersection with the Prairie Link Trail. Therefore, an e-bike is highly recommended if traveling westward beyond Prairie Link.
Therefore, recommended travel direction is east to west with a return via the Prairie Creek Trail west to east. You really don’t want to do this loop in the opposite direction. Climbing Prairie Creek from east to west is more of a black diamond level of difficulty whereas climbing Powderface east to west is medium difficulty.
