Trail Lightning
Real good trail, with some line choices, good skinny single track. Used to be downhill only, but not anymore, they need to remove the downhill only signs

Trail is not in great shape. Lots of deep sand and hidden holes. Needs a lot of work.

Fun little jump on the side that you can whip, other than that it’s just like rattler

Entire thing is completely redone, and some how they managed to keep every single bump there, before it was smooth but destroyed, and now it’s renewed and rough. I don’t know what the trail builders were thinking, they have put jumps in places that don’t make sense, half of the jumps don’t work and most don’t even have good lips, even though it was recently built. I decided to go again, on a full suspension, but surprisingly I still felt every bump the same. The amount of things that just didn’t work on the trail surprised me, and I truly like the way the trail was before the redo.

Very fun section of jacobs ladder, this is where it starts to get more flow and less tech, although there are some rocky tech sections, it’s mostly flow, it’s very fun

Very nice pick and technical, no flow at all, I liked it though and it was an interesting challenge for me, cause it was the most technical thing I have ever done. This is the only place you will find tech in corner canyon, farther down the trail in the middle section it has more flow.

A really good trail, really good views, only one tricky part and that’s the kitty litter, really well built and extremely flowy !! The climb isn’t bad at all, more people should use this trail!!! I can’t wait to try the rest of jacobs ladder after trying this out!

The lower section of this trail has been redone, with amazing new jumps, it has way more flow than the rest of rush, there is also a ten foot optional gap jump at the end for more advanced riders, would recommend!!!!! There is no ruts or brake bumps or anything

Trail Rush Flow
Would not recommend, way to many tight switch backs, and that pretty much what the entire trail is made of, I would recommend that you take fly by night which is on the other side of the parking lot

Great way to get to the top, really scenic aswell, people should use it more often because most parts don’t have much of an incline

I haven't ridden this trail, but I have hiked up it. It's part of the long hike up to Lone Peak from the trail head where Jacob's Secret ends. AllTrails labels it as "heavily trafficked". I think it's safe to say you shouldn't be surprised to find both bikers and hikers on it.

The whole trail is destroyed now. Break bumps and holes everywhere. You’re better off riding this earlier in the year when it’s a bit less beat up.

Conditions were fantastic for my first time down this trail. As an intermediate rider, there were two sections that stretched me just a bit, but it is a gorgeous and fun ride down some steeper sketchy rock sections and flowy sections.

I just spoke with Draper City & the Forest Service - the Forest Service owns this trail. They own the area north of the "Draper Alpine Trail".

Officially it is a multi-use, multi-direction trail.

I just want you to know that so you know what laws are over that area and trail. The LEGAL MATTER OF FACT is it's NOT a downhill only or mountain bike only trail. Nearly every other citizen who doesn't ride is going to look at Draper City and Forest Service website and read that they can hike/ride up this hill.

This is correct. And currently Trailforks shows actual trail designations according to how the legal owner classifies them. I think the comments with regards to what this trail "should" be, are just opinions and need to be taken as such. As both a mountain biker and trail runner, I would still find these comments to be good information, and I would personally avoid going up the trail because it would just not be a great experience. Can I go up it, and should any riders coming down yield, absolutely.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HIKING UP JACOBS!! This trail should ONLY be accessed from the peak view trail. This trail should be changed to one way only!

Jacobs should be listed as a one way downhill only. It’s miserable to hike or ride up and everybody uses it as a downhill only trail. Which is amazing for.

To what was once an amazing multi-use trail, it has turned into a mess of ruts, sandy landings across most of the jumps, and deterioration of the overall flow of the trail.

As of July 22, 2019, the trail needs serious work and would not recommend anyone at the moment with a lack of skill to take this trail at high speed. At opening it was fantastic and a well deserved extension to Rush Trail.

I changed it to bidirectional. I do see a lot of guys bombing down it, and it is fun down. But with Rush at top, and Jacobs Ladder, I would say it sees a lot more traffic up. And like you say, you have to stop every 10 seconds going down. Since this is meant to be a guide for people that don't generally know a trail system, I would still say it is more enjoyable up this trail and down one of those other trails.

Ok. I just get a bit annoyed when someone declares a trial up or down without the stated direction of the trail system managers. If anything it exacerbates the problem for those wanting to use it downhill by making everyone believe they should be using it as an uphill. I agree that rush is great for bombing down when you want burm's and jumps. And Jacob's is fun if you like steep rocky descents, but canyon hollow offers a third element that is more bob and weave through the trees on a smooth dirt surface. More of a trail lover's downhill. And to anybody that reads this please don't bomb down any of the multi-use trails at any time of day. The Draper master plan 2016 does explore the possibility of doing and odd/even day usage model if the bikes and hikes can't get along. I hate that about the Millcreek trails and I would hope we can still have a good time without needing to "bomb" a multi-use trail.

Not sure why it is classified as "Uphill Primary". I ride it a few times per week but I have only ever ridden it downhill and it is an awesome trail. Nearby "Clarks" is a dedicated uphill and I use it as such to feed "Canyon Hollow", "Rush", "Anns" and further up to "Jacob's Ladder" and "Ghost falls". The only reason I can think that you would use Canyon Hollow rather than Clarks for uphill is to shave 3% off the average grade.

I agree. Canyon Hollow is a blast downhill if it's not busy, but so many people climb it that you end up having to stop every 10 seconds. But on a slow day, when you're tired of Rush, it's a great descent

I shouldn't say this but I am always riding at first light of the morning and at that time I rarely need to stop more than once per trip. Perhaps that is how I have become such a fan.
